[...] Even though Bhutto was allegedly stirring the cauldron, “…demanding after returning to Pakistan that the ISI be restructured; and in a press conference during her house arrest in Lahore in November she went as far as asking Pakistan army officers to revolt against the army chief,” http://www.globalresearch.ca/… recent revelations by various neocon-men points to a covert US plan to eliminate her. “A large number of ISI agents who are responsible for helping the Taliban and al-Qaeda should be thrown in jail or killed. What I think we should do in Pakistan is a parallel version of what Iran has run against us in Iraq: giving money [and] empowering actors. Some of this will involve working with some shady characters, but the alternative – sending US forces into Pakistan for a sustained bombing campaign – is worse,” Steve Schippert was quoted as saying a November 2007 issue of Weekly Standard. (1. Steve Schippert | November 28, 2007 at 12:39 am “For what it’s worth, the author attributed a comment to me that I did not make in the Weekly Standard article.
In his artcle Mr. Ahmed Qureshi, a man unknown to many Pakistanis has just tried to distort the real picture of Pakistan and on the basis of this distotion he, acting as an unofficial spokesman of Pakistan;s Military Rulers (no matter Uniform is there or not) has managed to send some messages to the United States and some other countries. He desperately tried to justify the dominating role of army establishment over Pakistan on some false and baseless facts. In the part of his article in which he wanted to prove 'something' about Dr. Aeyha Siddiqa, he claimed that her book Military Inc. is openly available at openly at every book stalls evey where in Pakistan, this alone point is enough to prove that he dont know much about the ground realities in Pakistan. The fact is that on the very same day of the unsuccessful launch of the said book, the whole lot of the book was managed to remove from book shops in Islamabad and every other city by our 'efficient' agencis.

Jinnah to Armed Forces of Pakistan; (1947 / 1948)
“Do not forget that the armed forces are the servants of the people and you do not make national policy; it is we, the civilians, who decide these issues and it is your duty to carry out these tasks with which you are entrusted”.
After quoting the above saying of Jinnah, I will regret the thoughts / ideas floated in this article, but then it’s very obvious, what more can you expect from a person like Ahmed Quraishi – an employee of PTV “PervezTV”. You can well imagine his vision when just at the beginning of his article he is quoting that 1st shot was fired in Balochistan province in 2004, man seems to know little history of Pakistan what to say of Balochistan. But I will again say you shouldn’t expect more from him, born & brought up in Kuwait & then starting his career in journalism from Gulf region, he seems to be oblivious of the facts & history of Pakistan, or otherwise I must say he is distorting facts & presenting a twisted view under the influence of “Agencies Money”.
A major portion of his article is dedicated to justify the “Business Empire” of Pak Army & then indulging without any proof into character assassination of Dr. Ayesha Siddiqa, writer of the famous book “Military Inc”, and it’s from here that you can “smell a rat” in his own words. As a matter of fact the launching ceremony of this book was cancelled & all the major hotels in Islamabad refused the author for any venue / booking for launching ceremony under the influence of the agencies. It looks as if “Agencies Activism” is at work. How ridiculous it seems to justify all the irrelevant businesses of the Pak Army knowing the fact that it has badly affected their professionalism, so much so that now even we the Pakistanis don’t have any faith on their abilities when it comes to fighting a war against the enemy of the motherland. Although they never had a record of winning the war against outsiders but still if you compare the results from 1948 to 1965 to 1971 & onwards to Siachin & Kargil a gradual downfall of the professional behavior is clearly observed.
The core problem seems to be that Armed forces are losing respect not for the reasons cited in this article but because of their own “Corrupt & Dishonest Behaviour”. They are mainly if not solely responsible for bringing the country to the present juncture & putting the whole nation into hopeless condition by destroying the institutions of the country the lastly being most important - Judiciary.
Why should anybody plan to target Pakistan when we are self sufficient & working hard in this field. For instance can anyone justify the statement of our President, who is also the Chief of the Armed forces, when he is addressing the international community & threatening that if he quits the power then the nuclear arsenal of the country can go in wrong hands, only a traitor can talk like this. Like Mr. Musharraf, Mr. Ahmed Quraishi (His Master’s Voice) is also giving the impression that Musharraf himself is the nation, pl. don't confuse Musharraf with Pakistan.
I must say at this juncture of history a real soul searching is required from all of us, specially from those who are in control of the country to question our behavior as a nation, otherwise as Hazrat Ali (R.A) has said that a society can’t survive without justice, what can we expect of our own society where the Chief Justice of the Nation is under house arrest, agencies are running the torture cells, people are kidnapped by those very persons who are custodian of law & are suppose to protect them. Still people like Ahmed Quraishi are misleading the public because of their selfish interests.

For what it's worth, the author attributed a comment to me that I did not make in the Weekly Standard article. While I ascribe fully to what the unnamed intelligence source who actually said it did in fact say, they are not my words. Just for the record, since the article you republished here seems to be making the rounds quite nicely still.

In very very brief summation, Quraishi is not without some valid points and concerns. Not all of them, mind you. He tends to go overboard, however, bordering on paranoia.

Cheers...
