Lord Voldemort and his supporters will lose… surely they will.

So the polling for NA-250 is due to start on Sunday morning and the fear mongers and the supporter of darkness led by Lord Voldemort have struck… they are trying their best to shut the public opinion against them and make people not come out and exercise their right.

Now they are doing a press conference and intend to blackmail Imran Khan on a very personal matter. But the evil and their supporters will lose.

Evil Strikes

A senior female Pakistani politician has been shot dead in the southern port city of Karachi.

Zahra Shahid Hussain was the senior vice-president of Pakistan’s Movement for Justice party (PTI), led by former international cricketer Imran Khan.

She was killed by gunmen on a motorcycle outside her home in the city’s upmarket Defence neighbourhood.

Her murder comes on the eve of a highly-contested partial re-run of last Saturday’s general election.

Vote – you must

NA-250 has now become a test case. People must come out and vote. And vote their conscience not fear. Agreed, it is easier to write this blog then to actually go out and vote but this is the time to make a differnce… to ensure your voice is heard loud and clear.. not only in Karachi, but across the world.

Remember all the other constituencies of Karachi where people did not have a chance to vote their conscience, who are silent witness to the ongoing injustice. Their vote was already casted, they did not need to come out to vote… they could not. The so called stronghold areas. Stronghold, not on the basis of respect but on the basis of fear and intimidation.

People in NA-250 have a real chance to make a differencee

We will not accept politics of terror, fear and intimidation. We will not accept continue to be blackmailed by the ones we trusted who have turned evil.

Is Dawn Newspaper a biased news-aggregator? Or at worst a torch-bearer of yellow and irresponsible journalism?

Dawn Newspaper was founded by Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan. It prided itself in breaking news and was respected in the influential class for its reach and the quality of the journalism.

However, it has recently become a mere news-aggregator and a bad one that is completely biased against Pakistan and is promoting a precipitated view of a failed state (on whose behest is anyone’s guess).

This is especially true since the retirement of the esteemed Ahmed Ali Khan.

There is no sense of patriotism which is not about distorting facts but about helping the nation find the answers to our problems. It is also about doing one’s bit to help promote a balanced picture of the country externally.

Funnily, Google news Pakistan (http://news.google.com.pk/) is a much better and balanced source of news about Pakistan because it aggregates news from sources with all sorts of biases automatically.

There are several examples of anti-Pakistan biases in Dawn Newspapers’ reporting and some are below:

14th September 2012

The top story is about protests across Pakistan against anti-Islam film. This story has been borrowed from AFP with all its unnecessary details and stereotypical view of Pakistan without the facts (not sure why one has to think that if it comes from a Gora it will be unbiased – feels like a bit of an inferiority complex as well). It seems Dawn Newspaper does not have any reporters based in Pakistan to report this news item in a fashion which more reflects reality instead of typical stereotyping and bucketing of Muslims by Western media. Read for yourself here.

28th August 2012

This story is about signals from Pakistan mobile phone companies’ towers reaching India. This news item has been borrowed from Times of India. It is quite funny because it truly bares the face of Dawn Newspaper as the story is at best only partially true and at worst a good example of yellow journalism. The story makes references to make-believe telecom companies which for a fact do not operate in Pakistan and some may even not exist. By publishing an unsubstantiated report, Dawn Newspaper is willingly participating in a misinformation campaign. Read for yourself here.

27th September 2011

This story is about Pakistan thanking China for its support however the story is intermingled with an opinion piece on US feelings about Pakistan. The story has been borrowed from Reuters. It seems Dawn Newspaper has no reporters in Islamabad to cover this story and hence needed to borrow it from Reuters. Read for yourself here.

http://dawn.com/2011/09/27/china-extends-support-to-pakistans-sovereignty-integrity/

These are only a few examples. One can point to a story on a weekly basis if not more often that may well look like coming from Fox News directly (at least they are no hypocrites and are proud of their views)

So, the question for Dawn Newspaper is, why do they employ so many reporters and journalists if they intend to aggregate news from selected foreign media for news even from Pakistan. Even a youngster with some web publishing knowledge can do this with flying colours.

Foreign news agencies’ feeds are generally used only where an organisation does not have the resources to cover the story first-hand and needs to rely on those feeds. Thanks to Dawn Newspaper, stories from Pakistan are now received and propagated via foreign media (with all the spiced-up anti-Pakistan bias) and branded as if these were from Dawn Newspaper notwithstanding the small print that no one normally reads or pays attention to.

But the bigger question is why the Pakistani elite and so-called educated class continue to hold Dawn Newspaper in high esteem. The only fathomable reason is that the corrupt and unpatriotic love each other’s company.

Boycott biofuels and ban speculation…. that is if you believe in humanity

The world is currently facing one of the worst food crisis in recorded human history…. it is at a boiling point but it can spill over at anytime.

Retail staple food prices have seen record inflation of up to 300% in the last three years across the world resulting in more and more people struggling to eat even once a day.

No.. it is not a doomsday scenario.. this is happening now and what we are seeing is an utter disregard from humanity .. almost 20% of crops in the US in now being harvested for bio-fuels which means 20% less crops for human consumption..

“Rice — a staple for billions of Asians — has soared to its highest price in 20 years, while supplies are at their lowest level since the early 1980s, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Meanwhile, the global supply of wheat is lower than it’s been in about 50 years — just five weeks’ worth of world consumption is on hand, according to the U.N. Food and Agricultural Organization. ”  (http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1717572,00.html)

It is funny that people have been supporting bio-fuels which, currently, can only be produced by substituting food supply so the food that needs to go into people’s stomach is going into vehicles.. Okay… the situation is not dire but we are not far off. It is time to say No to bio-fuels, at least for now.

On the other hand, Oil speculators who have pushed the prices of oil from a stable $60 to $70 barrels to atrocious $105+ a barrel are minting money. There is literally no shortage of oil but these speculators made sure that they pushed the prices by going long on the market and continue to push these to maintain their profits.

It’s not the oil speculators alone – “As always in a crisis, there are winners. The creeping fear that the world might actually run short of food — no longer simply the stuff of sci-fi movies — has led speculators to pour billions into commodities, further accelerating price rises. In a single day in February, global wheat prices jumped 25% after Kazakhstan’s government announced plans to restrict exports of its giant wheat crop for fear that its own citizens might go hungry” (http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1717572,00.html)

As oil drives all transportation costs, everything is getting expensive including drilling and exploration costs for oil companies which in turn means no body in the oil industry wants to lose. But at the bottom of it, it is the speculators who are the culprit.

And with increasing transportation costs, the costs of bringing crops to the markets is skyrocketing.. prices of fertilisers is skyrocketing… which means increased costs of grain.

If oil speculation is banned for a few years, oil prices are going to drop to $50 – $60 dollars… I have no doubt but who is going to do it..  It is such a shame.

“The UN Food and Agriculture Organization warned on Friday that the food import bill for the world’s poorest countries will increase 56 per cent this year and civil unrest will increase if the international community doesn’t act vigorously to help. The World Bank recently estimated the food crisis will erase seven years of progress in reducing poverty in developing countries. Already, high food prices – the prices of wheat and rice are double what they were last year – have sparked riots in diverse hot spots around the world, including several African countries, Indonesia and Haiti.  Unlike famine in places like the Ethiopia, this situation is dispersed across the globe, from Asia to Africa to Latin America. FAO estimates 37 countries face food crises this year, requiring outside assistance for various reasons. The high price of oil is contributing to increased food prices and boosting inflation elsewhere in many economies.”(http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/news/yourbusiness/story.html?id=21cdf43a-5cf7-4054-b65a-a2e995b21605)

Unless action is taken, many people will die of hunger and food riots….  Take action, show your responsibility and boycott bio fuels as a start.

“In India last year, more than 25,000 farmers took their own lives, driven to despair by grain shortages and farming debts. “The spectre of food grain imports stares India in the face as agricultural growth plunges to an all-time low,” warns India Today magazine.” (http://www.sundayherald.com/news/heraldnews/display.var.2104849.0.2008_the_year_of_global_food_crisis.php)

People.. wake up now! Criminal speculation of commodities must be banned.. and stop using and advancing biofuels……. Give humanity a break!

Tyrant’s party eats the dust – a resounding defeat!

In what political pundits can term as pure revolutionary, the people of Pakistan have rejected the King’s party across the country with important puppet leaders ending up licking their wounds and some trying to flee to hypocritic West.

Even the threat of violence did not stop people show their full and total rejection of the despicable tyranny that ruled? this nation.

The demand to reinstate the nation’s independent judiciary is louder than ever!  The demand that the nation’s servants go back to serve it … not rules it!

So here goes the prediction!…

PML-Q or the King’s party is wiped out off history…….. full stop!

Punjab: PML-N i.e. Nawaz Sharif’s (the ex-Prime Minister who was shown the exit door by the will of might rather than the will of vote) party wins the largest province and takes the provincial assembly

Sind: PPP i.e. Benazir Bhutto’s party (Late ex-Prime Minister) wins most seats and forms majority

NWFP: ANP i.e. the socialist party rules the day and will probably form the government

Baluchistan: The only province in the country where the turnout was so low that the will of the people could not prevail (they really did not accept the farce elections under Tyranny) hence the King’s party PML-Q may take the majority with their ghost voters.

And what about the big prize… The National Assembly (Parliament)

The trend shows King’s party is almost wiped out to oblivion. PPP (Benazir’s party) and PML-N (Nawaz Sharif’s party) will split the vote and probably will be in a position to form a coalition government. There is also a possibility that alongwith ANP they’d take 2/3rd majority  ……… enough to impeach the Tyrant.

GeoTV in Pakistan crushed by Tyranny

From this Friday evening, the Govt. of Pakistan has succeeded in pressurizing the UAE government to ensure Geo-TV stops all transmissions of current affair program, news, discussions etc. on the current political situation.

Although Geo and other independent channels were already banned in Pakistan, these could be seen on satellite channels around the world. This curb effectively means these can continue only as pure entertainment channels, if at all.

It throws a good or bad light on Pakistani government is rather a different question but it does reflect very poorly on the UAE as it shows despite them trying to showcase themselves as the most developed and modern nation of the middle east, it all still is merely a facade around a more autocratic type monarchical society.

Anyway, coming back to our main point – I think a good advice to Geo and other like-minded independent media channels is to base themselves in a true democracy like the UK or the US (sorry I’d rather ignore the raised eye-brows) to ensure they can continue to show what is happening in Pakistan to the wider world.

Draconian Law changes in Pakistan

It is being widely circulated that the government in Pakistan is planning to make some far-reaching modification to the Pakistan Army Act whereby civilians could be tried in the military courts.

And given that civilan courts have no jurisdication over proceedings in a military court, it will give a literal freehand to the governement to persecute dissenters.

If it is true then it is nothing short of a true Martial-Law. What a shameful act!!!
